Okay, an epistolary or letter game novel, except that the two writers are in completely different genres.

So one character is writing about the foreboding castle she's just moved into, and its unfriendly owner, and how she keeps hearing these strange noises at night, and the other character writes back about the romantic comedy or soap opera or cosy craft shop murder mystery that she's living in.

Ideally you could do this in a way where both stories illuminate each other's themes and genre tropes, but it'd also just be fun.

This would be so fun!

There's an improv game where the two characters in the scene are from different genres (and sometimes towards the end of the scene they trade genres); it's great to watch.

That would be hilarious. I'm deeply fond of epistolary novels, from the classics to modern-day* versions like Sorcery and Cecelia and Freedom and Necessity. What are some of your favorites?

*modern-day = anytime in the last 30 years, I guess...
