UPDATE: Pixies noped out slightly after I did (though to a different room, so we didn't realize); my assumptions about people's reactions to me, having been formed by teenage trauma, are unduly pessimistic and I always forget this; am still unsocial but more comfortable.

So I saw this tweet*:
And went "But that'd be great! Ghosts are neat and then you'd have someone to talk to other than the children!" And then of course I had half a gothick novel plotted.**

I assume that this and the harsh-satire-of-superheroes idea I had last week are evidence that my writing brain is coming back after the overexertion, but currently I am just remembering that all long form writing projects eventually end in exhaustion and hating everything you've written, so I'm not exactly in the mood to start either of them.

*I am not actually on twitter, I just look at other people's twitters.
**Yes, Harold, of course they're lesbians.

Okay, self. The reason we do not get into discussions of the thing is because it triggers perseveration which makes us unhappy. If we do get in a discussion of the thing, even if it’s because we have something important to say, the reblogs etc. will probably add to that. (Also, the vast majority of my followers: do not, thankfully, care about the thing at all.) You came up with a whole bunch of fic ideas during July. It is probably better to focus on those. If that means staying away from anywhere that is not highly curated, by me, then we will have to do that.

I don’t seek out posts about how Gifted kids are all spoiled brats, and I’m not going to seek out posts about this. It can go on without my involvement. If other people aren’t saying what I think should be said, I’ll live, and so will they.

(oh, fandom)

The thing in Brave is that Elinor doesn’t ever say that Merida is incapable of doing something. She says that she shouldn’t. She doesn’t think that she'll lose, she says, “If you loose that arrow…” Because she knows she'll win.

She’s completely confident of her daughter’s abilities, she just doesn’t think she should use them.
